It started in the chilling winters of December 2022. My college ran a website development program. I participated, won it, and that win turned into something bigger. The Chair of the Students' Council reached out: would I build the website for Lakshya, the college's upcoming Grand Fest? I didn't think twice before saying yes.
Work kicked off in mid-January. I had two weeks. My goal was simple: build something stunning and snappy, something that would genuinely leave people in awe when they opened it. I wanted it to feel like an event, not just another college website.
I went with Vite and React: lightweight, fast, exactly what I needed. I handled both the design and development myself. Even the poster designers came to me for direction on what kind of visuals would work on the site. It was a solo act, and honestly, I loved every bit of it.
What followed was a collaboration that spanned across campus. I worked with the teams crafting the events, and at one memorable point, sat down with the Founder of our college, Rahul Singhi Sir. I watched him pore over every detail of the fest, giving feedback on the site with the same energy he probably put into building the university itself. He really loved what he saw.
Right at the last moment, we added live scores during the events. It was a late feature that made the whole experience feel electric. When we finally launched on lakshya.poornima.edu.in, the response was overwhelming. Students loved it, faculty loved it.
Lakshya is the Grand Fest of Poornima University, a 3-day spectacle where the campus stays alive day and night. Students camp on campus, events run back to back, and the energy is something else. Getting to build a piece of that in just two weeks was an absolute blast.
